2015 Audi-Tron Sailing Series - Big fleet racing for Melges 20

by Melges 20 on 17 Jul 2015
2015 Audi-Tron Sailing Series - Act 4 International Audi Melges 20 Class Association
As many as thirty-seven teams from ten nations have signed up to compete in Porto Ercole - the fourth act of the 2015 Audi-Tron Sailing Series hosted by Circolo Nautico e della Vela Argentario, and organized by B.Plan Sport and Events (BPSE) in cooperation with Melges Europe.

It's big fleet racing time as this event puts the class just a little more than a month away from the prestigious European Championship on September three - five taking place in Sicily, Trapani Italy.

The fleet forerunner is Dario Levi at the helm of Fremito D'Arja. Levi has been experiencing a banner year with already two major wins under his belt - Loano and Riva Del Garda. His 2015 track record has earned him the current leadership on both the World and European Ranking circuits, just a few steps ahead of Corrado Agusta's Customly, Claudio Dutto's Asante Sana and Guido Miani's Out of Reach.

Other teams on the watch list include Mirko De Falco on Peccere, Manfredi Vianini Tolomei on Maolca, Andrea Pozzi on Bombarda, Valentin Zavadnikov on Synergy GT and Richard Davies' Section 16. And lastly but not least of course, and most certainly not to be under-estimated is reigning European Champion Achille Onorato on Mascalzone Latino, Jr.

Racing commences Friday (tomorrow) and will continue through until Sunday. A total of six races are scheduled with a discard at the completion.
