Le Monocoque IMOCA - Banque Populaire VIII Voile Banque Populaire
Après une année de construction, le monocoque IMOCA dernière génération de Banque Populaire sera mis à l’eau mardi 9 juin à Port-la-Forêt sous les regards enthousiastes d’Armel Le Cléac’h et de toute l’équipe ayant contribué à l’aboutissement de ce grand projet. Plusieurs étapes primordiales et délicates seront réalisées avant que le bateau ne gagne l’élément liquide pour enfin rejoindre son port d’attache lorientais, devant la base des sous-marins de Keroman, mercredi.

Ronan Lucas, directeur du Team Banque Populaire :
« La sortie du chantier est prévue lundi après-midi, directement la quille sera greffée au bateau dans la fosse prévue à cette effet. Mardi matin à 9h le bateau sera gruté jusqu’à l’eau et effectuera l’impératif test de retournement à 180°, avec Armel à l’intérieur. Nous allons le mater et le gréer à la suite de cette opération afin qu’il soit prêt à prendre la direction de Lorient mercredi matin, au moteur ou à la voile selon les conditions météo. Ensuite place aux différents tests et aux premières navigations, c’est là que nous allons voir comment réagit le bateau. »

Armel Le Cléac’h, skipper du Monocoque IMOCA Banque Populaire VIII :
« Les derniers petits travaux (finitions de peinture, déco…) s’enchaînent sans problème, ça se présente bien pour la semaine prochaine. On a hâte de voir le bateau « démasqué ». Après des mois de travail, on ressent vraiment l’impatience pour toutes les personnes qui ont collaboré à la construction du bateau. Même si la fatigue se fait ressentir, au final on sait que ça sera une grande satisfaction générale lorsqu’il sera mis à l’eau. Si tout va bien, la première navigation (sans compter le retour à Lorient mercredi) se fera vendredi. »
