Mateusz Kusznierewicz (POL) continues to lead the 91-strong fleet in Finn European Championships in La Rochelle, France, after scoring a win and a third place overnight to stay in front of master sailor, Ben Ainslie (GBR).
The three one would expect to see in the top three are there – Kusznierewicz, Ainslie and Sebastien Godefroid (BEL) in third - in fact, we could be looking at the Athens finish positions here.
After one race drop, Kusznierewicz has a four point advantage over Ainslie, the latter scoring fourth and second placings in yesterday’s (GMT) two races.
Godefroid, who has his heart set on a medal in Athens, has been training hard to achieve some top three results over the past year, but is yet to give the top two any serious trouble.
Australia’s Anthony ‘Nocka’ Nossiter, who to-date has had a mediocre European summer, is currently in 15th place overall, one of his better results in this world-class fleet.
Nocka finished 25th and ninth in the latest two races for a total of 55 after the race drop.
