Eleven teams have congregated so far at the Balatonfüredi Yacht Club (BYC) on Hungary's Lake Balaton this weekend for the Balaton Melges 24 Spring Regatta which runs from May 8-10.

The regatta, which will be organized in kind co-operation with the Hungarian Melges24 Class Association and International Melges24 Class Association, will be the second event of European Melges24 Sailing Series 2015!

Balatonfüredi Yacht Club (BYC) and MVM Sport Club (MVM SE) are honoured to welcome the European Melges 24 fleet. Everything is ready for racing - summer has arrived to Balaton so hopefully the weather will be perfect for the event! The on-site registration will continue Friday morning and will be followed by the first race the warning signal of which is scheduled for 10.55 a.m.

There are seven local Hungarian boats registered so far among of which is the 2014 Pro Am Winner of the Melges 24 European Sailing Series - FGF Sailing Team with Robert Bakóczy in helm. From the 2014 European Sailing Series Top three boats there are represented also Miles Quinton's Gill Race Team from UK (third in Pro division) and Ukrainian team Marusia with Oleg Dyvinets in helm (second in Pro Am division). Besides those mentioned there are two teams from Austria competing as well.

The principal race officer of the event will be Benedek Fluck, international race officer who has great experience with Melges24 regattas being the PRO of the 2012-2014 Hungarian Melges 24 Championships, as well as of the Pre-regatta of 2014 Melges 24 European Championship n Balatonfüred.

A maximum of nine races will be sailed and the schedule allows for up to four races per day. A minimum of two races are required to constitute a regatta series. If five or more races are completed teams will be allowed to drop their worst result from their final points tally; otherwise every result will count.
