The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club is proud to announce EFG as the Title Sponsor of the Nations’ Cup being held on Saturday 2 May in Victoria Harbour.

EFG is synonymous with sailing here given their long-term support of the 40-foot racing boat, Mandrake, and recent signing of an official partnership with the Hong Kong Sailing Federation. The Nations’ Cup will further amplify their presence amongst the sailing fraternity in Hong Kong.

Torrey J. Dorsey, Corporate and International Partnerships Manager at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club stated, “EFG maintains a high profile at many major sailing events around the globe, including Newport Sailing Week, British Classic Week and Sailing Arabia – The Tour. We are pleased to add our Nations’ Cup event to these names; even more so given the participation of their racing boat, EFG Mandrake at its home club!”

The Nations’ Cup is one of the most enjoyable events of the season and is often referred to as sailing’s answer to the (Hong Kong) Rugby Sevens.

The Club has already received entries from 13 nations (well, 14 including Uranus), and applications are coming in thick and fast ahead of the deadline on 29 April.

A day’s pursuit racing in Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour and eastern approaches will decide which nation will win the Vic Locke Memorial Trophy, together with the right to display their national flag behind the Main Bar until Nations’ Cup 2016 and all-important bragging rights.

Last year, 75 boats competed with New Zealand taking first place and Hong Kong finishing as second nation, ahead of England in third, Scotland in fourth, Netherlands fifth and Singapore in sixth.

For sailors of all nations wanting to get involved, online entry is available at website together with the not-terribly-onerous Nationality Criteria, Notice of Race, crew wanted and available boards and other race documentation.
