Volvo Ocean Race – La organización de la Volvo Ocean Race ha confirmado que Dongfeng Race Team ha roto el mástil durante la mañana del lunes 30 marzo, sin que se hayan registrado daños personales. El equipo se dirige ahora a vela hacia Ushuaia.

Dongfeng Race Team ha comunicado haber roto el mástil a 240 millas al oeste de Cabo de Hornos a las 0315 UTC (0415 CET, hora española) del lunes 30 de marzo, última hora de la noche en esa zona del planeta.

El mástil se ha roto por encima de la tercera cruceta, la sección superior del palo. En estos momentos se dirigen a Ushuaia, Argentina, a vela, y de momento no planean seguir compitiendo en esta etapa.

En una llamada realizada vía Inmarsat, el patrón Charles Caudrelier dejaba patente su decepción: 'Es un golpe tremendo. Como se puede ver por los partes de posiciones hemos estado levantando el pie el acelerador a propósito, y no hemos atacado más de la cuenta, al contrario', comenzaba.
