Finn Gold Cup in Takapuna 2015 - The website for the 2015 Finn Gold Cup in Takapuna, New Zealand, has been launched. The Finn class is eagerly anticipating a return to Takapuna Boating Club for what will be only the second Finn World Championship to be held in New Zealand.

It will have been 35 years since Cam Lewis (USA) beat John Bertrand (USA) in a thrilling final race showdown in 1980, to take the Gold Cup.

Takapuna Boating Club is located on Takapuna Beach on Auckland’s North Shore, with the race course out on the Hauraki Gulf. The club is well versed in major events, having staged the 2008 Tornado World Championship, the 2008 RS:X World Championship, the 2008 Laser Radial World Championship and the 2014 470 Junior World Championship.

The Club and its adjacent waters provide consistent and challenging weather conditions for dinghy sailing, and is expected to provide a tough challenge for the second Olympic Qualifier for 2016.

The event is scheduled for November 2015:

Pre-worlds regatta: 17- 19 November
Measuring: 21-23 November
Racing: 24-29 November

The website contains information about logistics and freight handling, accommodation and local attractions. Further information will be added over the coming months, including online entry in the New Year.
