Volvo Ocean Race - Position report at- 23 Nov 1930 UTC

by Volvo Ocean Race on 24 Nov 2014
Sailing into sunset. Stefan Coppers/Team Brunel
Position report for the Volvo Ocean Race fleet as of 23 November, 1900 UTC.

Leader: TBRU
Wind speed: 4-12 knots
Boat speed SOG (15 mins): 5-13 knots
Wind direction: 288º to 333º
Lowest boat speed: VEST (5 knots)
Highest boat speed: DFRT, ADOR (13 knots)
Lowest wind speed: VEST (Four knots)
Highest wind speed: ADOR (12 knots)

Four days into the Leg 2, and the fleet is finally making progress towards Abu Dhabi.

The seven boats are now south of Madagascar, and they’ve been heading north since last night.

38 nautical miles (nm) now separate the leader, Brunel, and the last boat, Team SCA, who are further south. The Dutchies took the lead this morning around 1000 UTC, and have kept it since.

But there is one boat in the west that seems to be doing rather well. The Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing guys were the first to gybe yesterday night, and are now further north.

And they’ve been the only ones to gain miles to the leader since the last position report. 7nm gained on Brunel.
