US Sailing Team to celebrate Clearwater Training Center

On Saturday, November 15, Clearwater Community Sailing Center (CCSC) will celebrate its new status as an official training center of the US Sailing Team Sperry Top-Sider, the national Olympic and Paralympic sailing team.
As one of two training centers designated by the team, CCSC has become an integral part of the effort to win medals for the US at the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic sailing events. Since becoming a training center in March, CCSC has already made significant contributions in the form of acquiring new boats for athlete training, attracting major international sailing competitions to Clearwater, and opening its facilities to national team athletes year-round.
'We are proud that CCSC has become an important part of the US Olympic and Paralympic sailing effort, and we are excited to celebrate our partnership with the US Sailing Team Sperry Top-Sider,' said Frank Chivas, Board Member at CCSC. 'It will be an enjoyable and meaningful evening for all of us.'
Clearwater native Paige Railey, a London 2012 Olympian, World Champion and ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year, will be on hand for the celebration, along with other key athletes and members of the national team coaching staff. Also attending will be Josh Adams, Managing Director of US Olympic Sailing.
'Although our partnership with CCSC is still new, it has quickly evolved into a key asset for US Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls,' said Adams. 'Clearwater has long produced some of our country’s best sailing talent, and now athletes from around the US will be able to come and train at this excellent venue.'
