Comanche ocean trials in Newport + Video

Jim and Kristy Clark’s newly launched Comanche, a 100-foot supermaxi is aim for the Rolex Sydney to Hobart as her first major outing. The first video is of a training run from Newport, RI to Charleston, SC on Oct 24-26, 2014.The second video is of earlier trials off Newport.
The 70th running of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia’s annual race is expected to be a big affair with 98 entries received so far and the supermaxi battle is shaping to be intense. The newest of them is the Yacht Design and Vplp 100 footer, Comanche.

Built at Hodgdon Yachts in Maine, and designed to break records, Comanche was sailed for the first time on October 13, and will be showing her Australian connection come Hobart time, not surprising since her co-owner is Australian Kristy Hinze-Clark. Check out the Bilby on her mainsail.
CYCA organisers are predicting a world class fleet of up to 130 yachts will start the race on Boxing Day, December 26 at 1pm AEDT.
The start of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race will be reported live on Sail-World in both audio and vision.
