The YCCS Racing Team takes to the water once again this weekend to compete in the first Sailing Champions League event: an international regatta in which 24 teams from 15 nations are expected to compete.

The first edition of the event is organized by the Royal Danish Yacht Club, the German sailing league 'Segel-Bundesliga' and the Danish sailing league 'Sejlsportsligaen' and invited teams will be attending from around Europe and as far away as Oman and Russia.

Each competing yacht club is fielding a team of top sailing members and the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda is no exception with Antonio Sodo Migliori, Federico Pasini and Filippo Molinari competing alongside Tommaso Chieffi, America's Cup veteran and winner of numerous World Championship titles.

Racing will take place in match race format aboard J70 boats in Copenhagen harbour from Thursday 16th to Sunday 19th October and spectators can follow all the action live on the YCCS website from Friday to Sunday.

The worldwide sailing premiere combines the sailing sport with a great fundraising event for children's charity Childhood, supported by SAP. To vote for the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda and have SAP donate five Euro for each vote to the World Childhood Foundation, please click here.

YCCS Commodore Riccardo Bonadeo was enthusiastic about this new sailing initiative 'We are delighted that a YCCS team has been invited to compete in the new league, an interesting format which can only help to promote the sport of sailing worldwide. The fact that our members and supporters can help contribute to a charitable initiative at the same time is an added bonus.'
