The Barcelona World Race will feature at the Barcelona International Boat Show (known in Spain as the 'Salón Naútico') which will take place from the 15th to the 19th of October at the Catalan city's Port Vell.

There will be a merchandising stand with round the world regatta products at the Moll d'Espanya, near to the aquarium. Some of the event's key projects will also be presented at the Espai del Mar, next to the Barcelona Port Authority building on the Paseo Colón.

The thousands of visitors to the boat show will also be able to purchase a whole range of official Barcelona World Race merchandising at the Barcelona World Race stand. They will also be able to download and watch demonstrations of the highly successful The Game; the regatta gaming experience, where players race against each other and the Barcelona World Race skippers online.

The IMOCA teaching yacht for the Barcelona World Race will be moored at the Moll d'Espanya. The winners of a draw held by Fira Barcelona will have the chance to sail on the yacht and will gain a first-hand experience of sailing on a round the world yacht. There is also another prize draw for the Salón Náutico social network followers to win one of four places on a spectator boat for the start of the Barcelona World Race on the 31st of December this year.

As well as the daily presence for the round the world regatta at the Barcelona International Boat Show, there will also be a number of presentations, set to take place at the Espai del Mar. On the 15th of October at 11:00 the brand new advertising and publicity campaign for the Barcelona World Race will be presented. The campaign was designed by students at the Pompeu Fabra University who won a creativity competition organised by the FNOB with the support of the Dribbling advertising agency from Barcelona.

On the 18th of October at 12:00 it will be the turn of the regatta's educational programme 'Following the Barcelona World Race' to take centre stage, joined by the online regatta The Game. The virtual regatta, developed by the FNOB and the UPF is packed with new and improved features for this edition, thanks to player collaboration, developments in tablet and mobile technologies as well as enhanced 3D graphics.

'Following the Barcelona World Race' has now trained up over 200 teachers who will take the teaching programme into classrooms, with the teachers also having enjoyed a trip out on the FNOB's IMOCA teaching yacht. For this edition of the race over 20,000 students are expected to take part from over a hundred registered schools and organisations from Spain and beyond.
