2014 ISAF Sailing World Championships - Santander - Today consisted of a range of big swell, plenty of current and breeze that ranged from 080 to 210 with as little as one knot to as much as 18 knots during attempted racing hours. Several fleets spent multiple hours on the water waiting for breeze with a few veteran coaches reporting record breaking hours on the water (11 straight) with a coachboat refuel in order.

All fleets managed to get at least once race in with a mixed bag of results. Finn, 49er, FX and Nacra’s all had their debut on the water today. The Canadian FX fleet had a solid day on the course with Rafuse/Boyd posting a two, nineteen, six. Erin Rafuse and Dannie Boyd were unlucky with a protest this evening which resulted in a DSQ but still maintain good position in 14th overall. Nacra team Ramsay/Girke and Finn sailor Douglas also came out fighting sitting in 15 and 17 respectively.

All sailors were early to bed to rest up for a more promising day of consistent breeze tomorrow. RSX fleets split off to gold and silver fleets while the remainder of the fleets still battle in qualifiers for another day. Laser and Radial fleets head into finals with their event wrapping up on the 18th.
