Extreme Sailing Series - GAC Pindar adds experience ahead of Cardiff

by Neil Brotherston on 19 Aug 2014
Team GAC Pindar adds experience ahead of Extreme Sailing Series 2014 Act five, Cardiff, UK. GAC Pindar
GAC Pindar has today named its crew ahead of Act five of the 2014 Extreme Sailing Series in Cardiff, Wales (22-25 August), adding experienced Olympic Sailor, Hugh Styles to the team.

Styles replaces Troy Tindall as Main Sail Trim and brings with him a wealth of sailing pedigree, including previous experience of the Extreme Sailing Series with GAC Pindar in 2010. Styles sailed for Great Britain at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, finishing sixth in the Tornado multihull class and has over 20 years of elite level racing involvement.

GAC Pindar will be part of the Extreme Sailing series action which returns to Cardiff Bay this week, where it will act as the centrepiece to the Cardiff Harbour Festival. The event attracted over 120,000 spectators in 2013 and will again race on Europe’s largest waterfront development over the August bank holiday weekend.

Styles commented, 'It’s a great honour to come back to the GAC Pindar team after three years away from the Extreme Sailing Series. I’ve continued with elite level racing in that time and I’m incredibly excited to get out there with the team. We have a very experienced and talented crew for Cardiff, so we’ll be looking for a step up in the results from the previous four legs.'

GAC Pindar principal, Andrew Pindar commented: 'It’s great that we’ve been able to add Hugh’s knowledge and technical expertise to the crew. His sailing pedigree is outstanding and he brings with him a wealth of catamaran sailing skills which will put GAC Pindar in a great position to push forward and improve on previous results. We’re excited to see the guys out on the water.'

Hugh Styles joins current GAC Pindar crew members Nathan Wilmot, Seve Jarvin, Ed Smyth and James Wierzbowski.
