Lawson's Dry Hills have been confirmed as the 2015 Gold Sponsor of the Waikawa Boating Club's popular New Year Regatta.

Rear Commodore Sailing, Juliet Abbott says 'We are thrilled to welcome Lawson's Dry Hills as our Gold sponsor for 2015. This will be the eighth year running that Lawson's have been our main sponsor and as one of Marlborough's premium wine producers, we love that they are so willing to combine their obvious passion for wine with sailing. Lawson's Dry Hills wines are always well received by our prize winners.'

The racing is held in Queen Charlotte Sound and combines both short course and the longer harbour courses for both spinnaker and white sail divisions.

Held over the weekend of the 10th and 11th January with a fun and social invitation/shakedown race on the Friday evening. After racing is the social fun and games and days prize giving. While not letting too much away at this stage Juliet said that in the past the crews have competed in events such as sumo wrestling, the popular 'rig a jib' and overcoming the slippery pole.

'We have boats entering from Nelson, Wellington and Lyttleton and hopefully further afield. The Sounds are a fantastic cruising ground and the Waikawa Boating Club welcomes visiting boats from further afield. We have two marina berths ourselves and our marina supervisor is very helpful in placing visiting boats when required' says Club Manager, Sue van Velzen.
