The first annual WetaFresh is a big success

The final results are in. WetaFest Was a huge success.

We had two sailors from Cleveland, Ohio, one from Detroit, MI, four made the trip from the Chicago area and two locals from Grand Rapids. Muskegon, Mi is my new favorite place to sail. Free access to both Lake Michigan and Muskegon Lake. If one lake doesn't have wind, the other likely does. Great sand beaches and a good restaurant right next the launch, and lots and lots of fresh water.

We left the event with many new friends and sailing partners (none of the Great Lakes wetas had ever sailed together before, except Michael Box and I). Weta excitement is in the air with a few of the Cat guys asking for a ride, although the weather didn't allow that to happen. Plans are in the works for a number of demos yet this year with the goal of having a container of 6 sold for delivery in the spring.

Many thanks to our wonderful hosts the Catamaran Racing Assoc. of Michigan. They are a friendly and gracious group of people who know how run a great weekend multihull event, in spite of challenging and unpredictable Michigan weather. They gave the 8 Wetas that attended our own starts to all the races, shared Saturday dinner with us and invited us to the evening campfires. They even provided trophies for the top three finishers even though none of us are members and they let first time visitors sail for free! The final race results are here.

Make sure to keep an eye on the Cramsailing site and Facebook page as the Great Lakes Wetas will be joining them at future events. WetaFresh II, coming to Muskegon summer of 2015, start planning NOW.
