The 2014 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship in Tavira, Portugal is the 44th edition of the regatta and is ISAF's longest running event.

Throughout its illustrious history more than 100 nations have sailed on Youth Worlds host venue waters and the stars of the future have been born.

Names such as Russell Coutts (NZL), Siren Sundby (NOR), Robert Scheidt (BRA), Carolijn Brouwer (NED), Nathan Outteridge (AUS), Lijia Xu (CHN), Dean Barker (NZL), Alessandra Sensini (ITA), Zofia Klepacka (POL) and Ben Ainslie (GBR) have all come through the ISAF Youth Worlds.

Careers are carved out of the success and participation at the regatta and many of the 2014 competitors have one eye on the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and two eyes firmly focused on Tokyo 2020.

With the current crop of stars coming through the ISAF Youth Worlds many of the competitors recognize and admire the success of those before them.

ISAF TV caught up with many of the sailors competing at the 2014 ISAF Youth Worlds to hear directly from them who their heroes are.
