Foiling Week- Moth Invitational Regatta - Rob Gough victorious

by Domenico Boffi on 10 Jul 2014
Foiling Week - Moth Open Nationals Martina Orsini / TFW
The Foiling Week is in full swing: the last conference day and mixed race are about to happen after
the Moth National Championship and Invitational.

The initial perfect Garda conditions gave way to a more unstable weather that didn’t' allow the awaited mixed fleet racing to happen in the last two days.

More than 30 foilers of all kind, from kites to the large catamarans GC32, will compete in the endurance race TFW Mixed Fleet. The course is designed to enhance the flying speed capacity of the boats, with a one hour limit to complete the maximum number of laps.

In the first two days the TFW Forum has gathered the attention of the spectators filling the room to listen to 20 of the most important foiling designers. The round tables between speakers brought out the original purpose of foiling the week: share the experience to accelerate progress.

The TFW Moth Invitational Regatta between ten of the world top mothies was held with an 18 knots Peler (wind from the North). Four short but tight races selected the top three that entered the final showdown: The winner is Rob Gough in front of Josh McKnight (AUS) and Ben Paton (GBR).

Thursday will see again in the morning the TFW Forum (available live) with speakers such as Andrew McDougall, Andrew MacPherson, Philip Kenkington, Mark Somerville, Kevin Hall, Edoardo Bianchi, Katherine Knight, Mirco Babini.
