Stena Match Cup Sweden - Team Gilmour all set

by Team Gilmour on 1 Jul 2014
Close finish for Team Gilmour against Francesco Bruni in super light winds this morning - 2014 Match Race Germany Ian Roman / WMRT
After a short break from the match racing to compete in some fleet racing in Kiel Week, Germany, the boys are back together and ready to take on Stena Match Cup Sweden on the beautiful island of Marstrand just north of Gothenburg.

We had our official training session yesterday and are feeling confident in the highly manoeuvrable DS 37 yachts. These are the same boats which we sailed in the ISAF Nations Cup last year in Denmark and we are really enjoying being back in them.

Marstrand has the perfect natural amphitheatre for match race sailing and thousands of spectators are expected to line the rocks above the race area to watch the racing.

This year is the 20th edition of Stena Match Cup Sweden and the lineup is as strong as ever, we are looking forward to getting out on the water later today for the start of the round robin qualifying session.
