The Grand Pavois - What's new as at June 2014

True to its reputation, the Grand Pavois will be the meeting-place for watersports enthusiasts, and once again this year will present several previews and new boats to be launched in 2015. Here’s a focus on some new launches, as at June 16, 2014 (information supplied by exhibitors).

> What's new in sailing boats?

Boreal 52. The Boreal 52 is, to date, the largest in the series. This sailing boat for long-distance journeys is constructed of aluminum, which is still one of the most suitable materials for round-the-world trips. Its large saloon and fittings designed for maximum comfort, its spacious cabins and its useful, generous payload make it a luxury adventurer. The standard fittings are two double cabins aft and two forward double cabins. The proprietary version offers two superb cabins; the saloon remains unchanged and can accommodate up to 10 people. The Boreal's hull has been carefully designed to meet the specifications of modern recreational boating: safety, comfort and performance.

Two exclusives from the Chantier des Ileaux. The yard will present two new launches at the Grand Pavois: the Sarbacane and the XO.

Sarbacane is a seven-metre neo-classic day boat designed by the duo of marine architects, Mortain-Mavrikios. Following a request from a customer who definitely wanted this boat, the shipyard decided to take on its manufacture; construction of the first unit began in September 2013. The Sarbacane will be presented as a preview at the Show.

Designed and developed by Paolo Bua in collaboration with the shipyard, the XO is a 7.5 metre beachable cruiser. Its construction in strip planking - mahogany - glass - epoxy began in January 2014, and will be presented exclusively to visitors.

Saba 50. The latest from the Fountaine Pajot yard, the Saba 50 has been designed in the same spirit as its predecessors: bright, spacious, handling well, and offering all the pleasures of the sea, whether sailing or at anchor, where relaxation is synonymous with comfort and pleasure. The on-board spaces have been optimised to make superb living areas, whether in the saloon, the cockpit, even the gangway, or again in the light, spacious cabins. Offered in two versions, Maestro or Quintet (5 double cabins + 1 crew cabin), the Saba 50 is ready to take its passengers over all the world's seas.

Mojito 8.88. The owner of the IDB Marine yard had the ingenious idea of making two completely different boats from the same hull. If the Malando 8.88, which came out in 2012, is intended for short cruises with its large cockpit and small deckhouse, the Mojito 8.88, which will be presented at the Grand Pavois, has a larger deckhouse and a small cockpit, and is meant for cruising. Everything has been reviewed: headroom, lightness, the panoramic deckhouse, etc. It's a must-see boat at the Show.

> What's new in motor boats?

MC 4 and MC 5 by Beneteau. 'Grace is an attitude': the approach of the yard which, as well as being explicit, portends the best for sailing under optimal conditions. The MC 5 was, moreover, elected European Powerboat of the Year 2014 in January. It has to be said that these boats, with their sophisticated, elegant look, are tempting. It's a stroke of luck for visitors to the Grand Pavois, who will be able to see them afloat.

Catcher 495 and 360. These small fishing boats will delight fishing enthusiasts, fitted as they are with a bench fish-tank, fishing rod supports, panoramic gangways, swivel seats ... the Catchers, presented by MCR Composites-Technostrat, are the ideal vessels for day-trips.

XV Pro from Zeppelin will also be on display for the first time at the Show. This inflatable measuring almost seven metres, with its adventurous look, can carry the equipment for light sailing such as a paddle, a kayak, etc. thanks to its metallic structure. A new, more ergonomic console, redesigned seats, inflatable sundeck ... the XV Pro has everything going for it. Don't miss seeing it at the Grand Pavois.

Cap Ferret 672 SD. The Cap-Ferret 672 Sun Deck is a major new launch for 2014, from the B2 Marine yard. It offers a design with reworked walkaround-type bridge, a huge forward sundeck, with bow pulpit, and a wide sea passage. Its very attractive cabin has a double bed inside with furniture, chemical toilets and storage boxes. It's fully equipped, always in the same excellent quality which has made the yard's List of what's new at June 16, 2014 (non-exhaustive)

Meet up from September 17 - 22 2014 for the 42nd. Grand Pavois.
