El líder de la IMOCA Ocean Masters New York to Barcelona Race Hugo Boss parece que llegará a la línea de meta, frente al hotel W, entre las 19 y las 21 horas locales, seguido por el Neutrogena, entre las 23 y las 02 horas.

A las 11:00 UTC, el Hugo Boss estaba manteniendo una cómoda ventaja 25 de millas sobre el Neutrogena, con 65 millas hasta la llegada. A esa hora el dúo de cabeza estaba a medio camino entre la costa norte de Mallorca y la Península. El GAES Centros Auditivos a 165 millas de ellos, navegaba 27 millas al sur de Alicante.

El Mediterráneo continúa poniendo a prueba a los competidores. Tras días de calmas, esta mañana los dos barcos de cabeza se han visto de nuevo peleando una tormenta con vientos de proa, mientras batallaban para cubrir las últimas millas hasta Barcelona.

A media mañana, el patrón del Hugo Boss, Pepe Ribes, informaba desde el barco que una hora antes estaban navegando con 20 nudos de viento, cuando de repente fueron golpeados brutalmente por un chubasco de 45 nudos, que les viró el barco sin contemplaciones. 'Fue una racha de tormenta típicamente mediterránea. Fue muy dura, nos viró el barco y aún estamos recuperándonos. El interior del barco está sumido en un caos, hemos necesitado mucho tiempo para reordenarlo todo'.

A primera hora de la mañana, Gerard Marín informaba que en el GAES Centros Auditivos tenían 25-30 nudos, y como habían ido sacando todo el muestrario de velas, amedida que el viento les fue subiendo de intensidad, y que estaban apurando la decisión del segundo rizo, 'Estamos esperando un poco porque el viento está previsto que amine un poco enseguida', explicaba.

El patrón lesionado del Safran Marc Guillemot, ya está en Francia. Tras haber visitado un hospital en Nantes, se le han encontrado cuatro costillas rotas.
