Professional yacht transport- a growing trend

by Nancy Knudsen on 25 May 2014
Packed like sardines - the easier way to cross oceans SW
Your yacht is in the Med, but you want to go sailing in the Caribbean - or maybe it's in Australia and you want to sail in the Med. No, you don't have to take valuable time to sail the boat over or to charter one over there. These days the more and more popular option is to have it professionally transported, then fly over and start cruising. The buoyant news from Sevenstar Yacht Transport is the latest evidence.

The last three months has rocketed with massive demand for Sevenstar Yacht Transport services. Sevenstar made more than 70 port calls worldwide in April, and 200 yachts were shipped to the Mediterranean in just one month alone.

May is traditionally a busy month for Sevenstar as yacht owners prepare for their summer holidays, but this year the number of yachts surged to an unprecedented number, leaving no inch of deck space unused on Sevenstar’s vast fleet of carriers.

Yachts were loaded or discharged in a port somewhere around the globe more than twice a day. The Transatlantic route is traditionally the busiest route as Sevenstar transports yachts back and forth from Florida and the Caribbean to the Mediterranean almost continuously. However, there are scheduled departures from many ports in Asia and all major ports of Australia.

Bas Bos of Transatlantic Sales for Sevenstar commented: 'We are proud to be the transporter for a growing number of customers in need of a fast and safe transport across oceans.

'I believe that more and more yacht owners prefer fast and safe yacht transport to sailing under their own keel. Think of the possible wear and tear on their yacht and the time and crew you may need otherwise.

Not only that, but the extra preparation for both yacht and crew for a trans-ocean passage might make the cost of the yacht transport seem cheap - not to mention the safety of the crew who would have to ferry the boat.
