by Windlass Creative 13 Aug 16:33 PDT August 14-16, 2025

Six GL52s practiced together today in anticipation of the GL52 Little Traverse Cup 2025 regatta commencing tomorrow (8/14) with seven races scheduled through Saturday, 8/16.

The highly competitive teams, listed in alpha order are:

HEARTBREAKER is owned and raced by Laura & Robert Hughes. This team has had outstanding offshore results this season, sweeping both the Bayview-Mac and Chicago-Mac Races and finishing first overall. They are now tied for third place in the GL52 Great Lakes Series 2025 with 12 points.

KATANA is the pride and joy of John Huhn and crew who have been on a roll this season and are coming off of wins at both the 2025 Big Red and Ugotta Regattas. With 10 points, they currently top the leaderboard for the GL52 Great Lakes Series 2025.

Chris Duhon's MOCKINGBIRD has a strong mix of professional and pro-am sailors on board pushing the fleet at every mark rounding. So far this season, their best result was a second place finish at the Bayview-Mac race; they have 17 points in the GL52 Great Lakes 2025 Series standings.

NATALIE J. is a proudly competitive family program led by owners, Sharon & Philip O'Niel III. In GL52 Great Lakes Series 2025 scoring they are in 5th place overall, but are only 3 points out of first... a Series podium position for this team is not out of reach.

WINDQUEST is owned and co-helmed by Dalton and Doug DeVos; the later will be on the helm for the LTC. This team has enjoyed a solid season, highlighted by a win at the 86th Queen’s Cup Race. They are currently in second place overall in the 2025 GL52 Great Lakes Series, just one point out of first.

WIZARD owner Peter Askew and crew are only 2 points out of first place in the Great Lakes Series 2025 - they are tied with HEARTBREAKER for third place with 12 points. This team's best results have come in the closely contested inshore regattas, they took second place at both the Big Red and Ugotta Regattas.
