This year the ISAF A-Class Catamaran North American Championships are being hosted by SailNC from June 9th to 14th. With just under three weeks to go, the entry list is already bulging at over 60 boats entered so far.
SailNC, a North Carolina Corporation founded in 2013, is a non-profit organization. Its mission is 'The establishment of North Carolina’s coast and sounds as a sailing destination and hub, through the promotion and growth of all aspects of the sailing industry in North Carolina'.
SailNC is a North Carolina Marine Industrial Park Authority (NCMIPA) initiative that has the potential to position North Carolina’s Coast and sounds to be one of the premier sailing destinations on the east coast for competitive and leisure sailors alike.
There's a reason the Wright Brothers chose the Outer Banks to attempt their first flight. That reason was the Wind...consistent wind. The Outer Banks is considered the premier sailing, kite boarding and wind surfing region on the East Coast and has a year-round average wind speed of 12 knots. Full sails are a sure thing!
The UK team of Ocean Images will be reporting daily from North Carolina, with news, features, photos, videos and interviews. Go to the SailNC Facebook page and 'like' to follow the wind blowing action.
