Nick Egnot-Johnson, Sail No 2103 - NZ National Starling Sailing Championships Jim Rentoul
The final day saw a steady Northerly set down Parua Bay for the final two races in the National Starling Championships.
What seemed a disaster struck the leading Gold Fleet competitor Nick Egnot-Johnson, 2103 (Murrays Bay SC) when just before the race count down his mast shroud let go. However with the solid 6 wins from 9 races prior he could drop this race and crept in by 4 points with a fourth in the final race ahead of Leonard Takahashi-Fry, 1334. also from Murrays Bay SC.
Libby Porter 2126 from Kohimaramara YC (winner of the North Island Champs March this year) had a hiccup with the first final race coming in 15th however a solid third in the last race meant she held onto her third placing.
