Indec Merit leads Melbourne to Hobart

At the 06.35 radio schedule, reported positions show that the Volvo 60 Indec Merit has again built up a significant lead.
David Gotze's Indec Merit was just north of Point Hibbs and is now 17 nautical miles in front of Christian Jackson's Prowler, followed by No Fearr, Addiction and Tevake.
The remainder of the fleet, led by Outlaw and the smallest boat Babe, are just off the coast between Temma and Marrawah.
Interest now focuses on the possible winners in each handicap division, with Tevake favoured in the AMS division from No Fearr and By Order Of The Secretary (BOOTS).
In the IRC division, No Fearr is in a good position from Under Capricorn and VDO Ruthless. In PHD division By Order Of The Secretary is favoured from Addiction and Babe.
Current wind strenght is 25 knots plus from the north-east, thus boats are now reaching their maximum speed.
If predicted winds continue, it is possible that the first yachts will finish this evening, as the leading yacht Indec Merit is now less than 170 miles from the finish and should be making speed of more than 15 knots.
