Club Race Officer Course – Upcoming courses

Club Race Officer Course – In preparation for some big events coming up in 2016 and 2017 (Sail West, Manitoba Games and Canada Summer Games), special focus this season will be on developing race officials. If you would like to volunteer for these events, we strongly encourage you to sign up for the upcoming Club Race Officer (CRO) course.
April 12-13 Theory CRO Course at the Sport for Life Centre, Winnipeg
June 14-15 Practical CRO Course at the Viking Cup, Gimli YC
The Club Race Officer is one level higher than the Assistant Race Officer and one level below the National Race Officer. Course Conductor will be Peter van Muyden. If you would like to find out what your current certification is send an email to sailing@sportmanitoba.ca

All courses will be held at the Sport for Life Centre at 145 Pacific Ave.
Membership fee
The Sail Manitoba-Sail Canada membership fee for individual members was raised from $25 to $30 and the participant’s fee from $10 to $15. Reasoning is an added accident insurance for all members and volunteers at Sail Manitoba sanctioned events to the previous comprehensive liability coverage.
Sanctioning Requests
Commodores - remember to send your list of scheduled events to Sail Manitoba so that the events can be sanctioned.
Racing in the City
Come and race with us in Club 420s, Fjs and Optis on Tuesday and Thursday nights from May - August at the Winnipeg Sailing Centre.

We will run a CANSail 1+2 and CANSail 3+4 instructor clinic from June 23-27 at the Winnipeg Sailing Centre. Please visit our website for online registration.
Race Management Clinics
The dates for this year's RM clinics:
Course one April 12-13 Theory CRO Course at the Sport for Life Centre
Course one June 14-15 Practical CRO Course at the Viking Cup, Gimli YC
Course two June 28 Mark Laying Course, Zig Zag YC
Course three June 29 Mark Laying Course, RLWYC
Course Conductor will be Peter van Muyden. The courses are open to everyone. .
Manitoba Dinghy Championships and Alumni Regatta
New this year: the Manitoba Dinghy Championships will not be run as a circuit, but instead it will be run as a one-time event at the Viking Cup at the Gimli YC on June 14-15. The Viking Cup will also include this year’s Alumni Regatta.
Manitoba Masters Championships
The Manitoba Masters Championships will be a one-time event and once again Falcon YC offered to host the event on Sunday July 6.
Manitoba Keelboat Championships
The date for the Manitoba Keelboat Championships has changed from September to August 16-17 and will be held at Northern YC.
Laser District 4 Championships
The Laser District 4 Championships will be hosted at the Falcon YC on July 6
Keelboat Racing Program
The Keelboat program on a Carrera 290 will include Wednesday night and weekend racing at the Gimli YC, and is open for anyone who is interested. Check out the link for the keelboat program on our website
Cruising course for females
A new course for women ‘Ladies – you can do it!’ was designed over the winter and is ready to roll out over the summer.

Meeting Reminder
The next board meeting is scheduled for April 28 and the next executive meeting is scheduled for June 5 at 5:30 pm at the Sport for Life Centre. The minutes from the last meetings can be found on our website.
