2014 Sail Paradise - A close day of racing for day one

Alive at Sail Paradise 2014 - Sail Paradise 2014 Michael Jennings
2014 Sail Paradise - After being the favourite to win at Southport Yacht Club's Sail Paradise Regatta, Peter Harburgs' latest yacht named Black Jack, the Volvo 70 class racer contested in a day of close racing against the former Black Jack, a Reichel/Pugh 66 design which has been purchased by Philip Turner and renamed Alive.

Sailing in the exclusive IRC division Alive placed first in race one with an impressive day of sailing off the shores of the Gold Coast. Black Jack kept close behind in second place, only to fight back and win in race two.

With Friday's fleet of 30 keel boats and Multihulls sailing in a gorgeous south easterly breeze, on lookers watched the vessels compete from the shore lines of the Gold Coast. Principal Race Officers Kevin Wilson and Phil Collyer orchestrated an excellent variety of race courses and all competitors thoroughly enjoyed the close racing.

Over this weekend we will see more than 50 plus Competitors competing for first place in the 2014 Sail Paradise Championships. Sail Paradise 2014 is open to racing and cruising monohulls, multihulls and off-the-beach sailboats.

Details for Sail Paradise 2014 can be found on the regatta website.
