Taylor, Lucas and Brown awarded - 2014 Audi Melges 20 Miami Winter Series JOY /IM20CA http://melges20.com/
For Audi Melges 20 Bacardi Miami Sailing Week 2014 (BMSW) champion John Taylor, aboard Ninkasi, congratulations are in order. Taylor sailed the event with tactician Bill Hardesty and crew Joey Mello.

'I feel a little bit bad for John (Kilroy) as he and his team sailed really, really well at the first part of the regatta.' commented Taylor. 'But we also sailed well on Thursday, working through some tough starts and shifty conditions. Sailing on Friday was a hoot! More people need to sail Melges 20s. It was really fast. Really fun!'

Additional congratulations go out to Russ Lucas on Shimmer as he rose to the top of the standings to become 2014 Audi Melges 20 Miami Winter Series Champion. Lucas beat 2013 winner Richard Davies on Section 16 by one point. Michael Kiss on Bacio, and John Kilroy on Samba Pa Ti completed the series in third and fourth respectively, tied with equal points. Cesar Gomez Neto from Brazil on Portobello rounded out the top five.

John Brown on Blind Squirrel was also crowned 2014 Audi Melges 20 Corinthian Miami Winter Series Champion. It is only his second year in the class, and he and his team made up of Will and George Demand have worked very hard to acquire the title.

There was no racing on the last day of BMSW due to lack of breeze, therefore Friday's final results stand as is.
