A message to Farr 30 owners

by Deneen B. Demourkas on 26 Feb 2014
SW
In November 2013, history was made as the 'second generation' of World Council members were voted into office. I say second generation because 2009 was our rebirth as a self managed Class Association and now we have passed the torch.

I would like to welcome new Class President Patrick Lindblom of Sweden, Vice President Harald Bruening of Germany and Treasurer Andrew Hamilton of Canada. I know you and the Class are in good hands as I have spent many years working with all of these dedicated gentlemen.

While I have passed the torch and am no longer an officer of the Class, I remain dedicated to the health and growth of our One Design fleet. I will continue to work closely together with Patrick, Harald and Andrew and will always be willing to assist any Farr 30 owner in any way that I possibly can.

There is a lot of racing to look forward to this year both in North America and abroad and quite a few firsts to list. We are very pleased that the Royal Danish Yacht Club (KDY) will host the 2014 Farr 30 World Championship, August 24 to 30. Copenhagen is the perfect setting for this historic event and KDY do an excellent job of everything. The Royal Vancouver Yacht Club will host the North American Championship, June 20 to 23. And another first, the Canadian Championships will be held in conjunction with Chester Race Week, sailed on Mahone Bay in Nova Scotia, August 13 to 16.

Please join me in welcoming our new World Council members and to making 2014 another memorable year of sailing the best 30 footer in the world!

And thank you to all of you for your support over these last four years. I couldn’t have done it without you.
