Glebe Island opens, Boot Dusseldorf delights, Navionics turns 30!

Plenty of product, survey results, boat show info and most notably, exclusive impressions from the first event currently underway at Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island.
Domenic Genua, event manager for the BIA NSW and the Sydney International Boat Show has been visiting the interim venue for the past year, and over the weekend attended its first test. He spoke with MBW about the facilities and debunked some of the myths - for example, Glebe Island is NOT an island, so it's easily accessible by car, taxi, bus and ferry - the bus and ferry services between venues will be FREE for boat show visitors.
Also this week, plenty of international insight from a visitor survey conducted at the massive Boot Dusseldorf in Germany 18 to 26 January.
The watersport/boat/active lifestyle formula has hit a chord and the majority of its 48,000 visitors, pleasing exhibitors and organisers.
We've got lots of covetable gadgets in this issue, including the cool cat watercraft, the HeliCat 22, on show in Miami last week and by all accounts, creating a lot of buzz!
Also in Miami, Navionics celebrated its 30 years in the market with a press conference announcement of innovative new projects with OEM partners.
In Australia - where the company is celebrating a decade this year - its GM Garry Linacre tells us about plans to beef up its SonarCharts offering with input from end-users.
So much to impart this week, but always room for more, so please keep sending your own news and information to us, whatever your region.
Pleasant boating this week!
