THe Heart Throb group take to the water at McCrae Yacht Club Jane Moffat
The Heart Throb who visited McCrae Yacht Club wasn’t Brad Pitt or Hugh Jackman but a group of children and young people with serious cardiac conditions who came down to McCrae as part of an annual camp.
President of Heart Throb Rhonda Robins works with a team of volunteers to raise funds to hold the camp each year. Rhonda commented that ‘the annual camp is a fantastic opportunity for those with cardiac conditions to have an camp experience the same as lots of other children’.
Club members volunteered their time to take the group out in powerboats and Pacers sailing boats, as well as spending time collecting shells and making sandcastles.
Initially some of the group were a little apprehensive about taking to the water, there were smiles on all the faces after the first trip and 'can I go again' was heard over and over again.
A BBQ lunch and afternoon tea helped satisfy hunger from all the activity, and the day was rounded off with a quick hit at cricket.
The weather was beautiful with blue skies, sunshine and a light breeze ensuring that there was a coach load of happy people leaving McCrae at the end of the day.
