The Marina Industries Association (MIA) is pleased to announce Gladstone Ports Corporation’s (GPC) Gladstone Marina has been awarded MIA Gold Anchor rating for its services and facilities.

MIA International Gold Anchor ratings are a customer focused accreditation scheme for marinas across the Asia Pacific region. To date there are 18 accredited MIA Gold Anchor marinas with more in the process of being accredited.

Gold Anchor is for marinas what star ratings are for guest accommodation. Ratings range from 3 to 5 Gold Anchors. Most marinas are in the 31/2 to 41/2 Gold Anchor range which parallels accommodation star ratings. Gladstone Marina has been rated 31/2 Gold Anchors.

At Gladstone Marina the decision to participate in the Gold Anchor scheme was made after management decided it would be beneficial for the marina’s development to benchmark its services and facilities against Gold Anchors 10 key criteria and 101 individual assessment items.

Now that the 31/2 anchor rating has been given, it provides GPC with a customer service measurement to factor into short and long term business planning and development decision making. GPC said that participation in the Gold Anchor Scheme has been a very positive experience. It will be valuable for the marina’s ongoing development with a strong customer service focus.

MIA President Andrew Chapman said Gladstone Marina is to be congratulated for seeing the strategic value of Gold Anchor participation. 'GPC has shown foresight in investing in Gold Anchor accreditation; not just for its marketing benefits but for its role in supporting the marina’s continual improvement in customer services.'
