Singer Paul Ewing to perform at Phuket King’s Cup Regatta

Paul Ewing, award-winning singer-songwriter from Scotland (UK) and Artist Ambassador for the world’s largest children’s charity, World Vision UK, will perform at the closing party of the 2013 Phuket King’s Cup Regatta on Friday 6th December 2013 at 7 pm, at Kata Beach Resort & Spa . This special performance marks the final day of racing and subsequent award presentation, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display and high-energy closing party attended by over 1000 sailors, VIPs and guests.

Paul’s appearance will be his first at the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta, a sailing event which is renowned for offering exceptional musical entertainment, great food and warm hospitality as part of its series of beachside parties. Regatta week comprises five nightly parties following the ocean-top action held at three popular resorts in the South-west of Thailand; Kata Beach Resort & Spa (Monday 2 December), Kan Aeng@Pier (Tuesday 3 December), Kata Beach Resort & Spa (Wednesday 4 December), Phuket Orchid Resort & Spa (5 December) and Kata Beach Resort & Spa (Friday 6 December).

Paul Ewing, an artist described by Marcella Detroit as a “modern day Marvin Gaye,” has enjoyed considerable success in Thailand. In 2012, Paul was commissioned to write the Birthday Song for His Majesty the King of Thailand, entitled “Love Eternally.” His Grammy Award-winning team were again involved in production for this tribute song, and Paul was also invited to sing at the prestigious New Year’s Countdown Concert at Central World, Bangkok to an audience of 100,000 people - broadcast across the whole of Thailand on all major television networks.

Paul will be supported by his band, which comprises Luke Smith, a Yamaha-sponsored keyboard player; Mike Brown, a guitarist who performed with George Michael at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games; Clint Williams, bassist, who has played session for a number of UK pop stars; and Kevin Biddle, Bangkok resident and current session drummer for The Voice Thailand.




About the Phuket King's Cup Regatta – Asia’s legendary yacht race under Royal Patronage

Inaugurated in 1987 to celebrate the 60th birthday of His Majesty the King of Thailand, the event has been held every year since, during the first week of December.

Under Royal Patronage, the Phuket King's Cup Regatta is organized by the Phuket King's Cup Regatta Organizing Committee under the auspices of the Royal Varuna Yacht Club, in conjunction with the Yacht Racing Association of Thailand, the Royal Thai Navy and the Province of Phuket.

The Phuket King’s Cup Regatta will be held from November 29 to 6 December, 2013.
