A distinguished gathering of private jets, cars and yachts is on show in Macau this weekend. Organisers are running the third China (Macau) International Yacht Import and Export Fair, International Automobile Exhibition, and the Macau Business Aviation Exhibition concurrently to give Macau residents and mainland visitors the opportunity to experience first hand these top-of-the-range luxury modes of transportation, from both international brand names and local Mainland manufactures.
One of the organisers, Nam Kwong’s vice president Li Zhizhong said that the organisers had chosen to hold the three shows at the same time 'to further raise the awareness of each of the exhibitions and take advantage of Macau being a centre for tourism and being able to attract HNWI customers from Greater China and Southeast Asia.'
The Auto Expo located in Hall C at the Venetian Macao Convention and Exhibition Centre has a display of over 400 vehicles from 60 makers, and includes leading luxury brand names such as Audi and Mercedes Benz, both of who were unveiling their latest offerings. A large selection of mid range cars are also available from international manufacturers including Honda, BMW, Renault and VW. A number of mainland manufacturers have large displays including Trumpchi and Changan - who displayed a vibrant fluorescent pink car that certainly stood out from the crowd!
The real gems of the auto show can be found on Level 3 of the exhibition venue. Top of the range luxury motors included the shimmery silver and blue carbon fiber Bugatti Veyron which was flanked by brightly covered Lamborghinis on one side and – ‘over there’ – a Koenigsegg. There were lots and lots of Bentleys and Jaguars, and even, deep joy, a 50th anniversary of an AC Cobra to make the heart of any Real Man beat a little faster. An impressive display from the Hong Kong Classic Car Club completed this sensational line up of automobiles.
Another impressive display for visitors can be found on the tarmac of the Macau International airport. Over 20 private jets were on display to VIPs and potential buyers with all the brand names present. Boeing, Gulfstream, Cessna, and DeerJet were all lined up. Smallest is the cute little Italian number, the Piaggio P180, a collaboration between the Italian manufacturer and NASA. This superfast turboprop aircraft has an operational height of 41,000 feet and is fast enough for Beijing ATC to ask the pilot to ‘slow down’! Eight passengers fly in Gucci-interior luxury, including (since Piaggio is part-owned by Ferrari) all the key Ferrari F1 personnel.
Finally, on the boating front, the ‘ashore’ exhibition which is being held in Hall D at Venetian Macau Convention and Exhibition centre consists of a display of smaller motor cruisers and sailing craft, includes the internationally popular SeaRay brand and an interesting flying submarine. It was the 40M Sunseeker that dominated the in-water display at the Macau Yacht Club at last night’s opening ceremony. Attending dignitaries and VIPs were treated to sunset cruises on the 40m Sunseeker and a Marquis. The remaining guests were able to view the remaining luxury yachts on show and these included a Maiora, a Cranchi, the carbon fibre Delta, and a Jeanneau 405 sailing yacht for sailing enthusiasts.
It is hoped that the three simultaneous exhibitions of luxury Land, Sea and Air transportation will generate excitement and provide an exciting weekend for Macau residents and visitors.
