Few people in the world have had the opportunity to visit the seventh continent and experience its pristine wilderness. The Antarctic Peninsula is one of the last places on earth where the teeming wildlife shows no fear to the few lucky humans who get there.

The dramatic back drops of sculptured icebergs and towering mountains where glaciers calve icebergs will be our playground for over 3 weeks. This trip is unique in that you experience the wild and spectacular beauty of Antarctica in a small group of 10 individuals for a maximum amount of Antarctic time and landings.

The yacht, Spirit of Sydney is a 60ft aluminium Ben Lexcen design, ( of Australia2 fame), launched by Bob Hawke for Ian Kiernan to sail solo around the world in the 1986 B.O.C. race. She has been specifically refitted as an Antarctic expedition yacht and has worked in Antarctic waters for over ten years.

Every sailor dreams of sailing around Cape Horn, and making a southern ocean passage. We leave from Ushuaia, Argentina at the head of the Beagle channel just a few hours from Cape Horn. Dependent on weather conditions we will attempt to land on the island of Cape Horn and visit the memorial. Our crossing of the Drake Passage normally takes 3 days and as we cross the Antarctic conversion zone we enter Antarctic waters and are greeted by porpoising penguins and curious seals. We will spend approximately three weeks exploring the exciting cruising grounds of the Antarctic Peninsula, where sheltered waters teem with penguins, seals and whales, amid spectacular scenic backdrops.

This is an expedition and guests will be required to take part and participate in the adventure, however sailing experience is not essential. For this reason guests must meet basic medical requirements and have a moderate level of fitness. Due to the nature of the area we are visiting, our itinerary is weather dependent and at the discretion of the professional skipper.

This half price voucher entitles you to a 50% discount on the full fare of AUD$9000.00 and includes all expenses ex Ushuaia, Argentina. Participants will need to arrange their own airfares, travel insurance, and medicals. The Owners and their Expedition Doctor are available to discuss and support all clients.
