Sorry we have heard nothing officially about the welcome home for Emirates Team NZ (we're only the world's most popular sailing website, pulling over 1.2million visits last month, but obviously that counts for little).

As a service to our readers we have reproduced the following information from the Auckland City Council website on the event for Friday, October 4.

Auckland will host a welcome home event for Emirates Team New Zealand this Friday at Queens Wharf, to acknowledge the team's incredible effort on the water.

Emirates Team New Zealand will be welcomed home to Shed 10 at noon. Entry to Shed 10 will be limited. Queuing for entry will open at 11am and entry will open at 11.30am.

There will be screens in The Cloud and on Queens Wharf. For those wishing to watch the action from the comfort of their homes or workplaces, TVNZ will be live streaming the Shed 10 formalities.

Ngati Whatua will welcome Emirates Team NZ into Shed 10 with a brief powhiri at noon. This will be followed by a series of short speeches and will feature Dean Barker and Grant Dalton. Kiwi icon Dave Dobbyn will also be on hand to welcome home the team.

Emirates Team New Zealand will then depart Shed 10 by boat and be taken past Queens Wharf, Princes Wharf, Halsey Wharf and into the Viaduct. There are many vantage points to cheer them on during the ‘sail by’ - check the route map click here for details.

When: Friday 4 October, from noon

Where: Shed 10, Queens Wharf, central Auckland
