Cyclops Marine 2023 November - LEADERBOARD

Bermagui welcomes new berths

by Jeni Bone on 1 Oct 2013
Bermagui Harbour SW
Stage One of Bermagui Harbour has been completed. Gold Coast based- Pacific Pontoon & Pier (PPP) undertook the job, taking just just six weeks, including piling, to install and finish the new 34 berth marina. There are currently 15 boats already berthed at the Harbour and it’s expected to fill up fast.

According to construction manager, Lindsay Parker, the marina was due for a much-needed extension, as it was at capacity and is a vital piece of marine infrastructure on the NSW south coast.

'Bermagui is a small harbour and it was at capacity with recreational and commercial vessels. They really needed the additional berths.'

PPP manufactured the pontoons on their Gold Coast at the facility at Burleigh Heads – around 30 units in total for the project. As Parker explains: 'Pacific Pontoon and Pier has a totally concrete deck system with HDTE flotation. There will be a second stage, which is likely to involve the demolition of old berths and installation of up to 23 new berths. PPP submitted for the second stage and we hope, based on previous work, to be successful.'

Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Services, Andrew Stoner, recently announced a tender for Stage Two for the design and construction of 23 wet pen berths at Bermagui Harbour and 36 timber piles at Sinclairs Cove.

PPP have been in business for 25 years, constructing marinas nationally, as well as collaborating on projects overseas. They are currently working on Port of Airlie Marina, a multi-million dollar development of this iconic Queensland marine infrastructure.

PPP will exhibit at this year’s Gold Coast International Marine Expo, 1-3 November at the Gold Coast Marine Precinct in Coomera.
