2.4mR World Championship - Stellan Berlin wins seventh world title

At the 2013 2.4mR World Championship in Poole, England, racing has wrapped up with Sweden’s Stellan Berlin winning his seventh world title.

After 11 races over four days Michael Leydon was the top placed Australian at the event, finishing the regatta in 36th position.

Neil Patterson finished his first 2.4mR World Championship in 61st, with Mark Durnan 72nd.

Australia’s London 2012 Paralympic Games 2.4mR representative Matt Bugg was forced out of the event with illness at the end of the first day while in sixth position.

Unfortunately Bugg didn’t get any better as the regatta went on, remaining on shore for the final three days, with the Tasmanian finishing in 65th position.

Meanwhile, the test event for the Santander 2014 ISAF Sailing World Championships is currently taking place in Spain.

Australia’s Ashley Brunning is in action in the Laser fleet and is currently fifth overall after the opening five races.

Brunning is currently 10 points off a spot on the podium, following a 19th, a ninth and a second on Friday.
