Team Gilmour ready for competition

by Team Gilmour on 30 Aug 2013
2013 Detroit Cup - Gilmour and team victorious Isao Toyama
Team Gilmour has made a significant climb in this month's ISAF world rankings. Victories at the ISAF Nations Cup Grand Final in Middelfart, Denmark, an ISAF Grade 1 event and at the Grade 2 International Match Race for the Detroit Cup and a second in the Grade 2 Vasa Midsummer Match in Finland sees Team Gilmour climb up to world number 15 from number 24 and overtake the silver fox and former world number one, Peter Gilmour who has slipped to number 22 since his retirement in December 2012.

'Our goal for this year was to make the top 15 in the ISAF Rankings and its a great feeling to know we have accomplished it even with a few more big events of the year to go' said skipper David Gilmour, 'now we have achieved this we are feeling confident that we can move even higher' he also commented.

We are now in New York for the prestigious Kickerbocker Cup an event which we finished fourth in last year and an event where the 'sliver fox' Peter Gilmour won in 1998 and 2001.

The line up for this event is super competitive with nine skippers inside the top 50 in the rankings, including world number one Taylor Canfield and his US One Team.

In the overall USA grand slam standings we are currently second behind NZL team skippered by Chris Steele who has posted two consistent second places. Our poor ninth place in Chicago really hurt us, but the win in Detroit has put up back into contention with two more events of the tour.

Stay tuned to the Facebook page for regular updates.
