Selection process for the 2014 U.S. Youth Worlds Team revealed

US Sailing’s Olympic Sailing Committee (OSC) revealed the selection process for the 2014 U.S. Youth Worlds Team. To qualify for the 2014 U.S. Youth Worlds Team, sailors must compete and be scored in two qualification events. As previously announced, the 2013 U.S. Youth Championships will be the first qualification event.
The second event is one of three class-specific events:
1. 29er U.S. National Championship, Dec. 31 – Jan. 3, 2014 at Coconut Grove Sailing Club, Miami, Fla. (29er class)
2. North American Championships, Jan. 18-20, 2014, Coconut Grove Sailing Club, Miami, Fla. (F16, I420 boy’s and girl’s, RS:X boy’s and girl’s)
3. Laser Midwinters East, Feb. 20-23, 2014, Clearwater Yacht Club, Clearwater, Fla. (Laser Radial, boy’s and girl’s)
'We are pleased to announce that the 2014 U.S. Youth Worlds team will be selected based on a two-event selection series that gives young U.S. sailors a fair shot at team qualification,' said Josh Adams, Managing Director, U.S. Olympic Sailing. 'All the events involved in qualification, starting with next month's U.S. Youth Sailing Championships in Corpus Christi, Texas, are high-quality U.S. events.'
The 2013 U.S. Youth Championships will be held August 12-16 and hosted by Corpus Christi Yacht Club (Corpus Christi, Texas). The regatta includes the seven classes designated for the Youth World Championship: 29er, Club 420, Formula 16, International 420, Laser, Laser Radial and RS:X.
US Sailing will send a maximum of one boat per event to the 2014 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship. The 2014 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship will take place July 12-19 in Tavira, Portugal.
