The dream becomes a reality at Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron

After more than a decade in the planning, the new 250 berth marina at Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron is rapidly becoming a reality. Situated at cosmopolitan St. Kilda on Melbourne’s Port Phillip, the new facility is on track to open in early 2014.

Extensions to the existing breakwater are ahead of schedule and almost complete. The marina works themselves, being undertaken by internationally renowned Bellingham Marine, are progressing well, with many of the floating pontoons already in place. The establishment and upgrade of services along St. Kilda Pier to the new marina are about to commence in earnest.

RMYS set aside 128 pens across the 10m to 20m range available as long term leases of 20 years and, as you would expect, demand has been high. Only a handful remain, and all the ten metres berths are now spoken for.

There are also short term rental pens of up to 12 months available, and allowance has been made within the new facility for some multihulls and power boats.

If you’d like to know more, contact Rod Austin at the Squadron on 9534 0227, email him at manager@rmys.com.au, or go to the website.
