The 2013 EnviroPacific Services Inner Spring Regatta received the first entry from NCYC Rob and Jan Howard’s Beneteau 40.7 Shouten Passage with a further nine entries accepted to date.
'We were cruising up North last year while the Club held the regatta which from all reports was a good fun. This year we’re definitely competing' commented Jan.
Following the success of last year’s NCYC Inner Spring Regatta in which 21 yachts competed a few minor tweaks have been included in 2013 edition to ensure sailors have a great time both on and off the water. This includes up to three races on the Saturday on an offshore windward leeward course and another one the Sunday morning followed by a 20-25 mile distance race allowing boats to get into their stride!
Matt Fensom, NCYC member and a director of this year’s sponsor said 'EnviroPacific Services, a local Newcastle company which now has a presence in every state and territory of Australia, is wrapped to be involved with the regatta. We enjoyed competing on Long Time Dead last year and expect the 2013 event to be just as much fun'.
The largest yacht in last year’s Inner Spring fleet was Michael Martin’s TP52 Frantic which recently won the Gosford to Lord Howe Island Race. This year the 2012 record looks like it will be smashed with Andrew Wenham’s Volvo 70, Southern Excellence II, indicating an intention to compete in the two day event, 'Given we’re not migrating to the tropics in the boat this year we saw an opportunity to bring the boat up to Newcastle and do a day’s corporate sailing prior to competing in NCYC’s Inner Spring Regatta. We’re looking forward to series and hope a few other big boats might also get to Newcastle for the event'.
Entries are now open for the 2013 EnviroPacific Services Inner Spring Regatta. More details regarding the event can be found
