Ullman Sails Long Beach Race Week is scheduled to take place June 28-30 with online entry ending Tuesday at 6 p.m. PDT.

After Tuesday anyone else aiming to join the inshore racing and nightly parties in the West Coast's largest keelboat regatta will have to do it the old-fashioned way by signing up in person at the Long Beach Yacht Club on Thursday from noon to 6 p.m. or Friday from 8 until 10 a.m.

The regatta is co-hosted by the adjacent LBYC and Alamitos Bay Yacht Clubs.

At this report there were 145 entries in 14 classes, including 12 of last year's class winners. Prominent are the aggressive Farr 40s led by Jeff Janov's Dark Star, the three-time West Coast class champion; ocean racers like Peter Tong's OEX, a Santa Cruz 68, and Bob Lane's Medicine Man, an Andrews 63, in the Random Leg distance class, and feisty small-boat groups of 25 Vipers and a dozen Open 5.70s.

Several new 22.75-foot J/70s, including Tom Jenkins' DFZ from Mission Bay YC, also will make their debut in the event among a current list of 46 JBoats in various classes. Jenkins won the Sport+2 class in this month's Delta Ditch Run, a 67.5-mile romp up a river shipping channel in Northern California.

One-design classes not having six entries by Wednesday shall be automatically registered in a PHRF class, if applicable, unless permitted otherwise by the principal race officer.

Racing will be on three courses set inside and outside the port's Federal breakwater. Each day's competition will be followed by onshore parties hosted by the yacht clubs with free shuttle boat service across Alamitos Bay between the two clubs. Parties will be at ABYC Friday night and LBYC the next two nights.

Free mooring assignments are available for out-of-town boats. Event website
