Success For Local Boat Builder

Kay Cottee 56 Showboat
Australian boat builder SailAus Pty Ltd has sold the first of its multi-million dollar Kay Cottee 56 luxury cruising yachts to a leading Australian businessman.

Headed by former Australian of the Year, Kay Cottee, SailAus announced the sale this week and said negotiations were well advanced for the sale of a second yacht.

‘We finalised the first deal at the Sydney International Boat Show in early August,’ Kay said. ‘The buyer is a delightful man who will keep the boat in Sydney at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia. He just fell in love with our design, our quality and our fit-out,’ Kay said.

The boat was delivered to her new owner this week.

SailAus began building the Kay Cottee 56 luxury cruising yachts in Northern New South Wales in 2000. It took almost two years for the first yacht to hit the market and the sale of that boat marks a significant milestone for the company.

In May this year SailAus was presented with the Australian Marine Award of Excellence for the design and construction of the Kay Cottee 56. The yacht has been described as the finest cruising yacht designed and built in Australia.

Later this year the yacht will feature on the cover of the prestigious Yachting World publication. The magazine is sending an expert to Australia in October to do a feature article on the yacht and her designer.

SailAus recently added the Bayview 23 riverboat to its catalogue. The Bayview
was also a success at the Sydney International Boat Show with interest and orders
from around Australia.
