America's Cup- AC72 Practice Racing - extended Am-Cam video

by John Navas on 14 Jun 2013
Emirates Team New Zealand AC72, NZL5 and Luna Rossa in their second practice race in San Francisco. 13/6/2013 Chris Cameron/ETNZ http://www.chriscameron.co.nz

The always excellent, John Navas presents more Am-Cam video from San Francisco. On Wednesday June 12, he shot all three AC72's in action and produced two videos. The first of Emirates Team New Zealand and Luna Rossa training, and the second video shows one of Oracle Team USA's AC72's in a test session. The first video is 20 minutes in duration showing excerpts from the warm up, racing, and gybing. The practice race starts at 5m 43s into the video. The NOAA Wind Data (1100-1400) can be viewed by http://goo.gl/p8836!clicking_here. as with all the Am-Cam video, this shows long continuous sequences. The performance of both AC72's is impressive, but Emirates Team NZ seems to be very slick and controlled, sailing on rails. The second video shows Oracle Team USA in a training session. We're not prepared to pick whether this is Boat 1 or Boat 2. Certainly she is not foiling as smoothly as Boat 2 has previously on San Francisco Bay. As this is a test session, the boat's foiling performance could be a result of several factors. The NOAA wind data (11.00am to 2.00pm) for the Oracle Team USA clip can be viewed by http://goo.gl/B5RVS!clicking_here John Navas' full America's Cup video library can be viewed by http://goo.gl/nYQjZ!clicking_here
