Sailors taking part in the 2013 Sail for Gold Regatta, being held at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy from the 9th-13th June, can call upon the experience of a World Class Race Management Team which has been put in place for this year’s event to ensure a top quality racing experience.

Entries for this year’s regatta are still open, with a discounted entry fee deadline of Friday 31 May - giving sailors the chance, if not already entered, the opportunity to book their berths in this year’s flagship event of the Eurosaf Champions Sailing Cup 2013.

Across Portland Harbour and Weymouth Bay the Sail for Gold Regatta will deploy personnel from the Race Management teams who were instrumental in delivering a hugely successful Olympic and Paralympic Games at the same venue last summer, ensuring a superior racing environment for all athletes competing.

Adrian Stoggall, who has significant experience within Race Management and sailing generally and who was influential in running the 470 course at last summer’s Olympic Games, has been appointed as Principal Race Officer for the regatta in June. Adding to the calibre are Chris Hadden, David Campbell-James and Mark Wood who were on the Olympic 470, 49er and Finn/Star race teams respectively.

Sail for Gold Regatta Event Director Tim Hall commented: 'The Race Management Team we have in place at this year’s Sail for Gold Regatta has a wealth of experience and knowledge and I have every confidence that we will deliver an outstanding race experience for all sailors competing. The experience, passion and dedication from our race officers and their teams is always second to none and I know we are all looking forward to delivering a successful regatta in June.

'I know from past experience that without a well-organised and experienced race management team in place to run a regatta, sailors can sometimes be left feeling frustrated and annoyed. With this in mind, we have done are up most to put together a race management team that will deliver a world class racing environment. Sailors will race on the best possible course areas available due to the local knowledge of the race management team and should therefore come fully prepared for some exhilarating racing at WPNSA.'

Hall concluded: 'Sailors have only one week to finalise their plans and get there entries in, and with the extended discounted entry fee deadline of Friday 31 May - we are hoping to welcome back a number of Olympians and Paralympians who competed on the same waters last summer as well as up and coming talents who already have Rio 2016 in their sights. For anyone who has yet to enter or who is undecided, I hope the presence of top quality race management will help finalise their plans for this year’s regatta.'

Entries can be made via the event website and must be received no later than 31 May 2013.
