Blackmatch are back as Team Alpari FX

by Adam Minoprio on 20 May 2013
Last seen in action - Adam Minoprio (NZL) ETNZ/BlackMatch Racing winner of the Danish Open 2010, Bornholm, Denmark. World Match Racing Tour. Gareth Cooke Subzero Images/Monsoon Cup http://www.monsooncup.com.my

Since winning the 2009 World Match Racing Tour, between them the 'BlackMatch Boys' have competed in most Grand Prix sailing events around the world. The Volvo Ocean Race, America's Cup AC 45's, TP 52's, RC 44's, Mini Maxis and much more.

2013 sees a return to the World Match Racing Circuit and the return of 'the originals'; Adam, Dave, Tom and Nick, with the infamous Chris Main (aka Maniac) joining the team, bringing a wealth of experience. We have an amazing backing from our sponsor Alpari who have joined us for the journey and so, Team Alpari FX is born.

Team Alpari FX is competing on the 2013 Alpari Match Racing Tour and is skippered by Adam Minoprio. There are six events on the Tour this year, starting in Germany.

Currently we are locked at 1-1 with Bjorn Hansen and his Mekonomen Sailing Team in the quarterfinals here at Germany, after a rollercoaster round robin where we qualified in fifth position. After comfortably dispatching the Swede in the first race, it was a bit of an unforced error that cost us the second, when we made contact with him after fighting back into a dominant position. The team are very happy with how this week is going, steadily improving and hoping to peak at the right time so stay tuned www.wmrt.com.

Alpari also sponsor the Premier League Football team West Ham United. We teamed up with some of the soccer boys (including New Zealand Captain Winston Reid) to do a promotional video, so for a bit of a laugh this can be viewed here and is well worth a watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIILBHGbPhc .

Team Alpari FX would like to thank their sponsors Alpari and Line 7 Events Clothing for their amazing support.
