Porto Ercole,Melges 20 Audi Sailing Series 2013 Day one Stefano Gattini
At the Melges 20 Audi Sailing Series in Porto Ercole, the weather instability was stronger and more than the Race Committee had expected for the start of Event number two. Weather forecasts called for big breeze which in turn, resulted in no racing on Saturday. Officials were prepared to conduct racing as late as 18.00, but instead teams were sent packing back to the docks.

Prior to the day's schedule of events, all teams took a minute of silence in memory of Beppe Leonetti, Counselor at the Circolo Canottieri Napoli who died after being involved in a car crash in South Africa just a few days ago.

Twenty-nine teams are ready to race in Porto Ercole, and will try again on Sunday. Weather forecasts are predicting lighter breeze conditions.

Once racing in Porto Ercole is finished at Circolo Nautico e della Vela dell'Argentario, the 2013 Audi Sailing Series season will progress to Portoferraio on eight to 9th June and Torbole on 6th-7th July. Fleet numbers will be on the rise as it pushes onward to Porto Rotondo on 29 August - September 1 for the first ever European Championship since the classes inception as an ISAF International Recognized Class. Many of the teams are looking forward to competing at the 2013 Audi Melges 20 World Championship taking place in Key Largo, FL at Ocean Reef Club on December 11-14.
