Fuel filters recalled by Osculati

by Sail-World Cruising on 11 May 2013 Because a small number of leaks have been reported on some products, Italian marine equipment firm Osculati is recalling all fuel filters with the part numbers 17.664.00-17.664.10 due to a potential safety issue.

The firm has discovered a manufacturing error on the fuel filters 17.664.00 and 17.664.10 delivered in the period from October 2012 to April 2013.

Some filters have been equipped with a gasket seal of the wrong dimension which could cause a leakage of fuel.

'Despite rigorous quality control procedures, a small number of leaks on these filters have been reported,' says the company in a statement. 'The resulting investigations have identified the root cause of the problem to be a tolerance issue on a rubber seal.

'Customer safety is our absolute priority. Therefore, as a precautionary measure we have taken the decision to initiate a product recall and to deliver FOC the correct seal, whether or not the product is still under warranty.'

Osculati is a leading producer and distributor of marine equipment for retailers and boatbuilders in Europe. Its catalogue contains more than 17,000 items in stock.
